Ingredients
- 2 bags dry green split peas, rinsed and drained
- 4 cups cold water
- 4 cups chicken broth
- 1 TB chicken Bouillon granules
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 1-2 bay leaves
- 1/4 tsp pepper
- 1/4 tsp dried marjoram
- 1 meaty ham bone, or 1/2 pound ham diced
- 2 medium carrots, diced
- 2 stalks celery, diced
Preparation
Step 1
In a dutch oven combine water, broth, bouillion, peas, ham bone, onion and seasonings. Bring to boiling,Cover, simmer 1 hour, stirring occaisionally. Remove ham bone and cool enough to handle. Cut meat off the bone, and return the meat to the pot. Stir in the veggies, cover and simmer 30-60 min more, till tender, stirring occaisionally.
