Lemon Cheese Sauce (for cakes)

Mother always used this on Easter Cross Cake.

Ingredients

  • 2-3 lemons
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar

Preparation

Step 1

Grate rind of lemons and extract juice of same. Mix all together. Put on stove and cook until thick like jelly. Stir all the time. Remove from heat. Beat until cool and thick enough to frost cake. Use white cake.
