Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons chili powder,
- 1 tablespoon packed brown sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder.
- 2 1/2 - to 3-pound boneless beef brisket (flat-cut).
- 3/4 cup barbecue sauce
- 1/2 cup dry red wine.
Preparation
Step 1
Combine chili powder, brown sugar and garlic powder. Press mixture into a beef brisket (flat-cut). Place it in a Dutch oven, fat side up, on medium. In a small bowl, mix together barbecue sauce and dry red wine. Pour mixture around beef; bring to boil. Reduce heat to low; cover tightly and simmer 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 hours or until fork-tender. (Check occasionally and add water if it gets too dry.)
Remove brisket; keep warm. Skim fat from cooking liquid. Bring liquid to boil; reduce heat to medium. Cook uncovered 10 minutes or until liquid is reduced to 1 cup. Trim fat from brisket. Carve diagonally across grain into thin slices; serve with sauce.
