Chocolate Caramel Coffee Cake

Ingredients

  • Topping:
  • 1 3/4 cups flour
  • 1 envelope Rapid Rise yeast
  • 2 TBS sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup very warm milk
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 egg
  • 9 oz baking caramels
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 2 TBS butter
  • 1/4 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 TBS milk

Preparation

Step 1

-Mix flour, un-dissolved yeast, sugar, and salt in a large bowl.
-Add milk, butter, egg. Beat until smooth.
-Set 10 caramels aside. Unwrap remaining caramels and cut each into quarters. Stir caramels into batter.
-Pour into greased 8x8 baking dish

Topping:
-Combine brown sugar and flour into small dish. Cut in 2 TBS butter with forks. Sprinkle over coffee cake. Top with chocolate chips. Cover and let rise 30 minutes

-Bake in preheated 350 oven for 25-30 minutes
-Unwrap and microwave the remaining 10 caramels and TBS milk for 45 seconds (until melted and smooth.
