Lasagna

Ingredients

  • 1/2 pound Italian sausage
  • 1/2 pound ground beef
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 1 Tablespoon oregano, dried
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup red wine
  • 2 - 16 oz jars of spaghetti sauce
  • 1 - 6 oz can tomato
  • 1 - 16 oz package lasagna noodles
  • 2 eggs, slightly beaten
  • 2 cups ricotta or cottage cheese
  • 1 dash pepper
  • 1/2 cup parmesan cheese, grated
  • 2 tablespoons parsley
  • 1 pound mozzarella cheese, grated

Preparation

Step 1

1. Brown meat in large skillet, drain off fat; add garlic, oregano, salt and wine. Simmer 3-5 minutes. Stir in spaghetti sauce and tomato paste and cook 10-15 minutes.

2. Drop lasagna noodles individually into 6 quarts boiling water. Boil 5 minutes, drain, and chill in cold water.

3. In bowl combine eggs, ricotta (cottage) cheese, parmesan cheese, parsley, and pepper.

4. Grease 9x13 pan. Layer lasagna noodles, spread ½ of cheese mixture, layer meat sauce, layer mozzarella cheese. Repeat (saving enough sauce to pour over top). Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Let stand 10 minutes before serving.
