Cherry Torte (From Katheryn)

Ingredients

  • 6 egg whites
  • 3/4 tsp cream tartar
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 3/4 cup coarsely chopped walnuts
  • 2 cups coarsely broken soda crackers

Preparation

Step 1

Beat egg whites until they are very stiff along with cream tartar.

Slowly add sugar and vanilla.

Fold in cracker crumbs and nut meats

Spread mixture in a greased 9 X 12" cake pan

Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes.

Remove and cool.

Cherry Torte Topping
Beat two envelopes of Dream Whip as directed on package.

Do not sweeten, but add vanilla.

Spread over cold torte.

Drizzle 1 can of Cherry Pie mix over the top.

Chill 4-5 hours or overnight if possible.

(Note: Other pie mixes may be used if desired)
