Coconut Toffee Bars

Ingredients

  • 8 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 2 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 2 cups skim milk powder
  • 2 cups shortening, chilled

Preparation

Step 1

Mix flour, baking powder, salt, cream of tartar, baking soda and skim-milk powder in a large bowl. Using a box grater, grate in the cold shortening and mix together. (Alternatively, a large stand mixer works too.) Mixture will have a mealy texture. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator or at room temperature. Use within three months.
