Ingredients
- 1/2 cup white stoneground cornmeal
- 1/2 cup flour
- 2 tbls. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
Preparation
Step 1
1. Preheat oven to 425.
2. Combine dry ingredients in a medium mixing bowl.
3. In a separate bowl, beat together egg, buttermilk and butter.
4. Beat liquid ingredients into dry until thoroughly mixed.
5. Pour batter into a well-greased cast iron skillet and bake 20-25 minutes or until golden.
