Die-hard German cooks may make their own sausage and sauerkraut, but it's not necessary to do so to enjoy a hearty, simple dish that's perfect for a fall warm-me-up!

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds prepared sauerkraut, from a can, bag, or deli
  • 6 medium potatoes, cut into large chunks
  • 1 cup chicken or vegetable broth
  • 1 pound bratwurst, cut into chunks
  • 1 teaspoon caraway seeds
  • salt to taste

Preparation

Step 1

Place all ingredients in a slow cooker. Cook on low for 4 hours, or until potatoes are soft.
Serves 4 to 6.
