Ingredients
- 4 Spanish onions
- 1 cup flour
- 2-1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1-1/2 teaspoons sugar
- 2 tablespoons Lawry's seasoning salt
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic
- 1 can beer
Preparation
Step 1
1. Peel brown skin from onions and cut into 1/8-inch slices.
2. Chill overnight.
3. Dip onion rings in milk then in flour to cover completely.
Batter:
4. Mix flour, baking powder, sugar, seasoning salt and garlic powder.
5. Stir in beer until batter is the consistency of cream.
6. Heat frying oil to 365 degrees F.
7. Dip onion rings in batter and cook them in oil for 10 seconds.
8. Lift basket and separate rings. Then cook in oil again until golden brown, about 3 minutes.
9. Drain and discard and broken rings.
10. Serve immediately.
