Apple Cherry Cobbler

Ingredients

  • 1 (14.5 oz) can pitted red tart cherries in water, drained
  • 3 1/2 cups cubed, peeled Braeburn apple (about 3 large apples)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 3 TB butter or stick margarine, melted
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp almond extract
  • 1 tsp powdered sugar (optional)

Preparation

Step 1

Combine first 3 ingredients in a large bowl; stir gently. Spoon into a 9 inch square pan.

Combine flour, baking powder, and salt in a small bowl; set aside. Combine butter and next 4 ingredients in a large bowl; stir well. Add flour mixture, and stir well. Pour batter over fruit. Bake at 350 for 40 minutes or until golden and a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Sprinkle powdered sugar over cobbler before serving, if desired. Serve warm.
