  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1 cup chopped green onions
  • 1 cup okra
  • 1/2 cup celery
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 (10 oz) can diced tomatoes with green chiles
  • 1 (8 oz) can tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh parsley -- chopped
  • 1 package peeled frozen shrimp
  • 1 (l6oz) lump crabmeat
  • 1 tablespoon file powder
  • hot cooked rice

Preparation

Step 1



Prepare Tony Chacheres gumbo mix.

Add first 8 ingredients and simmer at least one hour.

Add shrimp to broth mixture, cook, stirring often, 15 minutes or just until shrimp turns pink. Stir in crabmeat and parsley. Remove from heat, stir in file powder. Serve over hot cooked rice.
