Combine the sugar and water in a small saucepan over medium-high heat and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and let cool completely. Transfer the syrup to an airtight container and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before using. The syrup will keep in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
