Thumbprint cookies

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 1 egg yoke
  • 1 egg white
  • 1/2 tea vanilla
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/4 tea salt
  • 3/4 cup finely chopped nuts
  • jelly

Preparation

Step 1

Cream shortening, sugar, egg yoke and vanilla
Blend together flour and salt and stir into mixture
Roll dough into balls
Beat egg whites slightly with fork
Dip balls in egg whites, roll in nuts

Place on ungreased cookie sheep
Press thum in centers
Bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes
Fill thumbprints with jelly
