Ingredients
- 1/2 cup nutritional yeast
- 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
- 1/3 cup canola oil or margarine (or a slightly smaller quantity of both if you'd like it to be extra creamy)
- 2 teaspoons minced garlic or 1 tsp. garlic salt
- 1 tsp cumin
- 2 teaspoons chopped fresh thyme (or 1 tsp. dried)
- 2 teaspoons chopped fresh sage (or 1 tsp. dried)
- 4 cups water
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1 box fusilli spiral pasta
Preparation
Step 1
Boil water for pasta; follow directions on box. Cook as usual.
Stir the nutritional year and flour in a heavy skillet over medium heat for 5 minutes or until fragrant. Set aside.
Heat the oil in a large, heavy saucepan over medium heat.
Add the garlic, thyme and sage for 30 seconds or until fragrant.
Whisk in the flour mixture thoroughly and then whisk in the water, soy/tamari, cumin, salt and pepper.
Bring to a simmer, whisking constantly, and continue to simmer until the mix is thick and creamy.
Pour over cooked pasta and serve.
