Homemade Italian Bread Crumbs

Ingredients

  • 4 slices whole wheat bread
  • 1 t. dried oregano
  • 1/2 t. garlic powder
  • 4 t. paprika
  • 1/2 t. salt
  • 1/4 t. pepper

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Place the bread in the bowl of a food processor and process until fine crumbs are formed about 25-30 seconds. Put the crumbs on a baking sheet and bake for 12 minutes or until golden brown. (you will wind up with about 1 1/3 cups toasted crumbs).

Toss the crumbs in a large bowl with oregano, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. This can be frozen at this point if desired.
