DEEP DISH APPLE PIE

  • 1 single pie crust
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup flour
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp allspice
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 12 cups sliced apples
  • 3 tbsp butter

Preparation

Step 1

Heat oven to 375 degrees . Prepare pastry and roll to a 8 x 13 rectangle. Cut slits in pastry. Combine sugar, flour, cinnamon, allspice, salt, and apples. Place in 12 x 7 x 2 baking dish (apples will mound higher than sides). Dot with butter and top with pastry. Flute the sides. Brush with milk and sprinkle with sugar. Cover edge with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake until crust is golden, about 20 to 25 more minutes.
