Ingredients
- 2 Tbsp olive oil
- 3/4 cup tomato paste
- 2 1/2 cups peeled and chopped fresh or canned tomatoes
- 1 grated carrot or 1 tsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp freshly ground pepper
- 3 large basil leaves, finely chopped
- 5 Tbsp butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
Step 1
1. Heat oil in a heavy-bottomed saucepan. Stir in the tomato paste, tomatoes, carrot and pepper. Simmer for 30 minutes. Add basil and butter and cook 15 minutes more.
2. Serve with cooked pasta.
