Split Pea Soup

Ingredients

  • 1 pound bag dry green split peas
  • 1 cup onions, chopped
  • 1 tsp garlic, minced
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 tsp oregano
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 2 cups carrots, shredded
  • 1 large potato, peeled and diced
  • 4 cups chicken stock
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 Knorr chicken broth enhancer
  • 2 cups ham, diced
  • 1/3 cup evaporated milk

Preparation

Step 1

Saute the onion and garlic in the butter until tender. Then mix everything else in except for the evaporated milk. Bring to a simmer and simmer for about 45 minutes. Pour in the evaporated milk and about a 1 tablespoon of cornstarch if you want it a little thicker and continue to simmer for about another 45 minutes.
