Banana Nut Bread

Ingredients

  • 3 c. sugar
  • 1 c. shortening
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 Tblsp. vanilla
  • 1 1/2 c. buttermilk
  • 2 tsp. soda
  • 4 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. (approx 3) bananas, mashed
  • 1 c. chopped pecans (optional)

Preparation

Step 1

Cream shortening and sugar together. Add eggs, one at a time. Beat until creamy. Add vanilla and salt. Add flour and milk alternately. Mix well. Add bananas and pecans. Pour batter into 3 greased and floured loaf pans. Bake at 325 for 35-40 minutes, or until toothpick clean.

Freezes well.
