Cherry Tarts

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • pinch salt
  • 2 tbsp. corn starch
  • 2 tbsp. water
  • 1 tbsp. lemon juice
  • 16 oz cherries
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Pie crust sheets
  • Vanilla ice cream

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven 375

Place salt, corn starch, water, lemon juice and cherries in a pan and cook on stove top until thickened. Approx 5 minutes. Let cool

Roll out dough and cut out desired size shape (2 pieces required for each tart).

Add 2 tbsp. filling in the center of each shape. Cover tart with 2nd piece of dough. Use a fork to crimp edges and seal. Make a slit in the center of the top of tart. Brush with beaten egg.

Bake for 20-25 minutes until tart is desired golden color.

Serve warm with scoop of vanilla ice cream and additional filling spooned over top.
