Ingredients
- 3 pounds pork shoulder roast
- 1/2 cup water
- 3 tablespoons vinegar
- 2 tablespoons worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon chili sauce
- 3 cups barbecue sauce
- 12 kaiser rolls or hamburger buns
- red onion, sliced
- dill pickle
Preparation
Step 1
Trim fat from roast. Cut in necessary to fit in a 4 qt slow cooker. Add water, vinegar, worcestershire sauce, and chili powder. Cover and cook on Low heat setting for 10 to 12 hours, or on High for 5 to 6 hours.
Remove meat from the slow cooker. Discard cooking liquid. Using two forks, pull meat apart and return to the slow cooker. Stir in BBQ sauce. Cover and cook on High for 30 - 45 minutes or until heated through.
Serve in split kaiser roll or hamburger buns with onion and pickle.
BBQ Sauce: Combine 1 1/2 cups ketchup, 1 cup finely chopped onion, 1/4 cup packed brown sugar, 1/4 cup vinegar, 3 T worcestshire sauce, 3 cloves garlic, minced, and 1/4 teaspoon bottled hot pepper sauce in a saucepan. Bring mixture to boiling . Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
