Frozen Strawberry Angel Food Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 Angel Food Cake, prebaked from a cake mix and cooled
  • 1 Package (3 oz.) Strawberry Gelatin
  • 1 Cup Hot Water
  • 2 Pkgs. (16 oz. each) Frozen Unsweetened Strawberries
  • 1/2 Gallon Vanilla Ice Cream, softened on counter for 10 minutes

Preparation

Step 1

Tear the angel food cake into bite-sized pieces; set aside. Dissolve the strawberry gelatin in hot water in a very large mixing bowl. Place the frozen strawberries in the food processor and process with on and off pulses until they are coarsely chopped. Add the strawberries to the dissolved gelatin mixture. Fold in the angel food cake pieces. Unpeel the cardboard box from the ice cream and cut the ice cream into chunks. Working quickly, fold the ice cream into the strawberry mixture until well blended. Pour the mixture into an angel food cake pan. Wrap the entire pan with plastic wrap. Place in freezer and freeze until firm, at least 6 hours. When ready to serve, let the cake sit st room temperature for 5 minutes, then unmold onto s serving platter, slice and serve.
