Ingredients
- 1 1/2 C flour
- 1/2 C brown sugar
- 1/2 C butter
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 2 egg yolks
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 C raspberry jam (or less)
- 2 egg whites
- 1 brown sugar
- 1/2 C chopped walnuts (optional)
Preparation
Step 1
Bottom Layer: Crumble first 7 ingredients together until mealy. Press into ungreased 9 x 9 pan.
Filling: Carefully spread jam over bottom layer.
Top Layer: Beat egg whites until frothy. Add second amount of brown sugar 1/3 at at time beating until stiff. Add nuts us using. Spoon over jam layer. Bake in 350 oven for 25 minutes until golden. Cut when wool, with sharp knofe fipped in hot water between each cut.
