Maple Syrup Cornbread

Ingredients

  • 1 1/8 c cornmeal
  • 1 1/8 c whole wheat flour
  • 3 t baking powder
  • 1/2 t salt
  • 1 egg well beaten
  • 1/2 c maple syrup
  • 3/4 c milk
  • 3 T melted shortening

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 400. Mix dry ingredients in large mix bowl. Add wet ingredients. Stir until well blended but do not beat. Pour into a shallow well greased 9 in pan. Bake for 20 min.
