HAM AND BROCCOLI ROYALE Jan. 1975

Ingredients

  • I cup reg. Rice
  • 2 packages, (10 oz) frozen broccoli spears
  • 4 Tbsp. buffer or marg.
  • 2 lg.Onions, chopped fine. (2 cups)
  • 3 Tbsp. Flour
  • 1 tsp. Salt
  • ll4 tsp. Pepper
  • 3 cups milk
  • 4 cups cubed cooked ham
  • 1 8 oz. Pkg. Sliced american cheese

Preparation

Step 1

1. Cook the rice, following directions; spoon into a well-
greased 13x9" baking dish

2. Cook broccoli, following directions; drain well. Place in a
single layer over rice in dish.

3. Melt butter or marg. In a lg skillet; Stir onions into butter and
saute until soft. Stir in the flour, salt and pepper; cook, stirring
constantly until bubbly. Stir in milk; continue cooking and
stirring until sauce thickens and bubbles-about 3 minutes. Stir
in ham; heat again just until bubbly; poor over rice and broccoli.

4. Place cheese slices over sauce; bake in 350 degree oven for
45 minutes or until bubbly and the cheese has melted.
Makes 8 servings.
