Ingredients
- For Cream Gravy:
- Salt, Pepper, & Garlic Salt
- 1 Cup flour
- 1 (2 1/2 to 3 #) frying chicken, cut into serving pieces
- Oil for deep frying
- 2 T cornstarch
- 3/4 cup hot chicken broth
- 1/2 cup milk at room temperature
- 1 t salt
- 1/4 t pepper
Preparation
Step 1
Mix seasonings with flour; coat each chicken piece. Heat oil in skillet; fry chicken, few pieces at a time. Cook about 25 minutes per batch of chicken, so that the pieces are crisp and crusty. Drain on paper towels; set on warmed platter.
Cream Gravy:
Pour off most of the oil in the skillet; leave about 2 T. Mix cornstarch with chicken broth. Add to hot oil, stirring constantly. Gradually add milk, salt, and pepper. When slightly thickened, gravy is ready.
