Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon canola or olive oil
- 3 garlic cloves minced
- 1/2 teaspoon chili flakes
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2/3 cup fresh orange juice
- 1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon light brown sugar - (firmly packed)
- 1 tablespoon grated orange zest
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 teaspoons water
Preparation
Step 1
In a wok or saucepan over medium heat, warm the oil. Add the garlic and chili flakes and sauté until the garlic is fragrant, about 1 minute. Add the sesame oil, soy sauce, orange juice, vinegar, granulated sugar, brown sugar and orange zest and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to low and simmer, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves and the mixture thickens, about 5 minutes.
In a small bowl, stir together the cornstarch and water until the cornstarch dissolves. Whisk the cornstarch mixture into the sauce and simmer until the sauce thickens, 1 to 2 minutes. Use immediately.
