Ingredients

  • 6 cups applesauce
  • 3 cups firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup red cinnamon candies
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground allspice

Preparation

Step 1

Combine applesauce, brown sugar, candies, cinnamon and allspice in a heavy Dutch oven. Stirring constantly, cook over medium heat until candies melt and sugar dissolves. Reduce heat to medium low. Stirring occasionally, simmer uncovered about 40 minutes or until mixture thickens. Cool and store in an airtight container in refrigerator.
