Datenut Bread from Aunt florence/Grandma

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups boiling water
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 3/4 cups flour
  • 1 cup nuts chopped
  • 1 cup dates cut up
  • 1 tbsp. butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Preparation

Step 1

Pour boiling water over dates. Add soda, let cool.
Add butter, sugar, beaten egg, flour, salt, vanilla and nuts.
Pour into loaf pans that have been well greased and floured.
Bake approximately 1 1/2 hours at 325'
