Step 1

Prepare pastry for 9-inch lattice-top pie. Combine 3/4 to 1 cup sugar, 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour, 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg or cinnamon, and dash of salt. Add to 5 cups sliced fresh peaches; mix.

Line 9-inch pie plate with pastry; fill. Dot with 2 tablespoons butter or margarine. (Dash with extra spice, if desired.) Adjust lattice crust; seal; crimp edges. Bake in a hot oven (400deg) for 45 to 50 minutes or till done. Serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream.
