Apple Butter on the stove

Ingredients

  • 6 lbs apples
  • 6 cups cider or 6 cups apple juice
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • allspice, to taste
  • ginger, to taste

Preparation

Step 1

1. Core and quarter peeled apples.
2. In a 4-6 quart kettle combine apples and cider.
3. Cook about 30 minutes or until soft.
4. Blend.
5. Boil gently for 30 minutes, stirring often.
6. Add sugar and spices.
7. Cook and stir often until sugar dissolves.
8. Boil gently, stirring frequently til desired thickness.
