Calzones

Great calzones made with pizza dough.

Ingredients

  • Favorite pizza dough recipe ( I used Publix from the bakery)
  • 1/2 c ricotta cheese
  • 1-lb Italian Sausage, browned and drained or 1/2 c diced pepperoni
  • 1/2 cup fresh thinly sliced mushrooms
  • 1 1/2 c Mozarella cheese
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Marinara sauce

Preparation

Step 1

Mix filling ingredients together in a bowl. Preheat oven to 375. Separate dough into equal parts. I made three calzones. Roll out dough on floured surface into a circle. Fill each circle with filling and then fold over. Secure edges by pressing closed with a fork. Brush the top of each calzone with egg wash and put on a lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake for 30 minutes or until lightly browned. Serve hot Serve with Marinara sauce.
