Ingredients
- Cake:
- 1 Duncan Hines Butter Cake Mix
- 4 eggs
- 2/3 cup milk
- 2/3 cup oil (veg)
- Apple Topping
- 2 cans of apple pie filling
- Crumb Topping
- 4 cups of flour
- 2/3 cup brown sugar
- 2/3 cup white sugar
- 1 tbs cinnamon
- 3 sticks of butter, melted and cooled and add 1 tsp vanilla
Preparation
Step 1
Blend together for 4 minutes (until smooth). Grease an 11x17 cookie sheet with lip, my pan is 10x15 so I reserved 1 1/4 of batter to the side and then poor the rest of the cake mix onto cookie sheet and bake at 350 for 20 minutes. (Check after 15 when using less batter)Mix together crumb topping ingredients to form crumbs. (Try using crumb ingredients -all plus then half but not double). Remove cake from oven and spread apple pie filling on top of cake and then spread crumb topping on top of apples. Put back into oven and bake for another 20 minutes. (If making extra crumb, more cooking time may be needed ) Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
*** in the smaller pan with 1 1/4 cup less batter, I used an additional 1/2 crumb recipe . Cake was very thin and lots of crumb. Was good but may use more batter when making extra crumb. Maybe leave out 3/4 cup instead or 1/2 cup.
*Regular crumb cake-just leave off the apples
