AUNTIE LAURETTA'S SWEET AND SOUR MEATBALLS

Ingredients

  • 4 lbs. meat
  • 1 cup matza meal
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 large onions, grated
  • salt, pepper, garlic powder
  • SAUCE
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 pints boiling water
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 cups canned tomatoes
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon sour salt

Preparation

Step 1

Mix all ingredients and form into meatballs. Cook in sauce. Note: To make a meatloaf, cut the recipe in half, use 2 eggs. Pour tomato sauce over the top and bake at 350 for 2 hours

SAUCE

Put sugar in heavy pan and slowly melt. Pour boiling water carefully into sugar. Add rest of ingredients. Let come to boil. Drop in meatballs. Cook 2-21/2 hours covered.
