Paige's Macaroni & Cheese

I have searched forever for the perfect home made mac n chesee recipe! I've tried many and never been completely happy. I gave up and made my own from what I think it should taste like. It's delish!!

Ingredients
- 32 oz. Velveta Cheese
- 8 oz. Cream Cheese
- 1 large package Macaroni noodles (jumbo)
- 1 c. Milk
- 1 c. butter, softened
- 5 c. Cheddar Cheese, shredded
- Crackers (optional) (enough to crumble on top)
- Salt
Preparation
Step 1
1. In large saucepan, melt together the following: velveta, cream cheese, milk, butter, salt. (on low-med heat, don't burn)
2. In large sauce pan, boil water for macaroni. Add noodles when water is boiling. Cook until done, but not mushy
3. Once macaroni is done, drain
4. In a large, shallow pan (pirex or something similar. a casserole pan) butter the entire pan (use papertowl, dip in butter and spread around)
5. Pour in macaroni. Pour in melted cheese mixture and mix together so it is mixed all the way thru. Make sure to start with less macaroni, you can always add more. You want the noodles to be covered in cheese.
6. Top off with shredded cheddar cheese. Make a thick layer on top. sprinkle with salt.
7. (optional) put crackers in a ziplock and pound until they are smashed into crumbs. Put them on top.
8. Bake in oven at 350 degrees until cheddar cheese is melted.
