Ingredients
- 2 T olive oil
- 1/4 c minced onion
- 3 T whole wheat flour
- 1 c low sodium chicken broth, boiled and reduced by half
- 1/2 c skim milk
- Optional Top Flavor
- Cream of Mushroom - 1 1/2 c chopped cremini mushrooms
- Cream of Celery - 1/2 c minced celery
- Cream of Chicken - 1 c finely diced cooked chicken
Preparation
Step 1
In a saucepan or pot, heat oil on med. Add onion and saute until translucent. Add flour and stir for 2 mins, until golden brown. Stir in broth, milk and optional top flavor ingredient.
Bring to a gentle boil, reduce heat to medium low and simmer 10 mins, until thickened. Allow to cool and use as desired.
