Sweet and Spicy Pecans

Combination of caramelized brown sugar and chili powder is fantastic on roasted pecans. For an easy variation, substitute the pecans for unsalted walnut halves

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup packed Brown Sugar
  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • 1 tbsp Water
  • 1 tbsp Chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp Cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 tsp Cinnamon
  • 4 cups unsalted Pecan halves

Preparation

Step 1

In saucepan, melt brown sugar, butter and water together over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves, about 2 minutes. Boil, stirring constantly, for 1 minute. Stir in chili powder, cayenne pepper and cinnamon until combined. Add pecans, stirring until coated.

Arrange on parchment paper-lined, or greased, baking sheet. Bake in 350 degree oven for 15 minutes. Let cool enough to handle, then break up any clumps.
