Cheddar Beer Fondue

Beer gives this cheddar cheese fondue a distinct (and wonderful) flavor! Use apples, cooked potatoes, bread cubes or even big soft pretzels for dipping.

Ingredients

  • 12 ounces beer
  • 1/2 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed with press
  • 1/4 teaspoon hot sauce
  • 4 cups shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • Cooked sausage, sliced, for dipping
  • New potatoes, cooked, for dipping
  • Bread cubes, for dipping
  • Apple slices, for dipping

Preparation

Step 1

Heat beer, Dijon mustard, garlic, and hot sauce in 4-quart saucepan on low; whisk in Cheddar cheese tossed with cornstarch until melted and smooth.

Serve with sliced cooked sausage, cooked new potatoes, bread cubes, and apple slices for dipping.
