Ingredients
- 14 oz. can sweetened condensed milk
- 1/2 c lemon juice
- 1 t grated lemon rind or 1/4 t extract
- 2 eggs, separated
- 1 8 or 9" graham cracker or baked pie
- 1/4 t cream of tartar
- 4 T sugar
Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 325 deg. Combine milk, lemon juice, rind & egg yolks, stir until mixture thickens. Pour into crust. In medium bowl, beat egg whites & cream of tartar until soft peaks form. Gradually beat in sugar on medium speed, 1 T at a time; beat 4 mins longer and stiff glossy peaks form. Spread meringue over pie. Bake 12-15 mins or until meringue is lightly browned. Cool.
