Ingredients
- Bread:
- 1/2 cup butter at room temp.
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/3 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup chopped, peeled apple (about 1 apple)
- 1/3 cup chopped walnuts
- Topping:
- 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tbsp. sugar
- 2 tbsp. brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 3 tbsp butter, room temperature
Preparation
Step 1
1.Preheat oven to 350 degrres and grease one 9x5 inch loaf pan. Remember to reduce the temperature if you're using a Pyrex pan.
2.In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until the sugar is dissolved.
3.Bet in the eggs and vanilla
4.Combine flour, baking soda and salt; stir into the creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk. Fold in apple and nuts. Pour into prepared loaf pan.
5.Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. While the bread is baking, prepare the topping: Combine the first four ingredients; cut in butter until crumbly. Sprinkle over batter. Continue baking bread for another 30-40 minutes until a knife inserted in the center of the loaf comes out clean.
6.Cool on a wire rack for 10 minutes. Remove loaf from the pan and continue to cool on the wire rack.
