Ingredients
- 1 cup shoyu (soy sauce)
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/3 cup ginger root
- papaya (optional)
- garlic (optional)
- top round, sliced thin against grain (tell butcher slice like for jerky)
Preparation
Step 1
Slice ginger root thin. Put shoyu, sugar, garlic (if desired) and ginger root in pot on stove and bring to boil, stirring constantly. If you want a more tender meat, add sliced papaya to sauce while cooking. (it does not have to be ripe). When sugar dissolves, remove from heat and let cool. Mix with meat and marinade overnight if possible, but 1/2 hour is enough. Cook on bbq or in broiler. Slices will only take about 3 minutes total to cook.
*You can also make with chicken.
