Easy Round Steak Dinner

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs boneless beef round or shoulder steak
  • 2 tbsp dripping sor cooking oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1 large onion, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 medium green pepper, seeded and cut into strips
  • 1 10 3/4 ounce can condensed tomato soup

Preparation

Step 1

Trim excess fat from meat; cut meat into serving size portions. Place trimmings in a heavy skillet and render over low heat until 2 tbsp fat have accumulated. Remove and discard trimmings.
Brown meat on both sides in hot fat. Season with salt and pepper. Place in a 2 quart baking dish or casserole. Add onion to skillet; cook till tender. Place atop meat. Lay green pepper strips over onion. Cover all with tomato soup.
Cook, covered, in a 300 degree oven for 2 1/2 to 3 hours or till meat is tender.
