holiday apple cake

Ingredients

  • 2 large all-purpose apples cored, peeled and cut into thin slices, about 2 1/2-3 cups
  • 3/4 sugar, divided
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup( 1 stick) butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 egg

Preparation

Step 1

preheat oven to 400. toss apple slices with 1/4 cup sugar and the cinnamon. set aside.

combine flour, baking powder, salt, nutmeg and remaining sugar in a large mixing bowl. add butter, milk and eggs, mix until blended. pour into a well-buttered 8-inch square baking pan

arrange apple slices evenly over batter. bake 45 minutes.

serve warm or at room temperature
