Cherry Nut Bread

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup margarine, melted
  • 1 tsp. almond extract
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup slivered almonds
  • 1 10-oz. jar (3/4 cup) maraschino cherries, drained and chopped

Preparation

Step 1

In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. In a small bowl, combine milk, margarine, almond extract and eggs. Blend well. Add to flour mixture in large bowl. Stir just until dry ingredients are moistened. Stir in almonds and cherries.

Pour into 9 x 5 pan, greased on bottom only OR 8 x 4 pan.

For 8 x 4 pan, bake at 350 deg. for 65-75 minutes.
For 9 x 5 pan, bake at 350 deg. for 60-70 minutes.

Cool 10 minutes and remove from pan.
