pastry cherry pie peach pie

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2/3 cup shortening
  • 5-7 tbsp water
  • cherry;
  • 3/4 cup juice from cherries
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 tbsp quick-cooking tapioca
  • dash salt
  • 2 1/2 cups drained, canned, pitted tart cherries
  • few drops red food coloring
  • 1 tbsp butter or margarine
  • peach;
  • 3 1/2 cups peaches
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 3 level tbsp minute tapioca
  • 1 tbsp melted butter

Preparation

Step 1

sift flour and salt. blend shortening till size of peas. sprinkle water, a tbsp at a time, gather up in fingers, from into ball.

cherry; combine everything except butter-let stand 20 minutes. fill pie pan-dot with butter, 450-10minutes. reduce to 350-30 minutes.

peach: 450-15 or 20 minutes
350-30 minutes
