Ingredients
- 1 package (18-1/4oz.) butter flavor cake mix (no pudding in the mix)
- 1/3 cup vegetable oil
- 2 eggs
- 1 package (12 oz.) semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup white baking chips
- 3 chocolate covered toffee candy bars (1.4 oz. each - cut into pieces - Heath Bars. I use one bag of pre-chopped chocolate covered toffee bits in the baking aisle.
- 1 stick butter (1/2 cup)
- 34 unwrapped Kraft caramels
- 1 can sweetened condensed milk (14 oz.)
Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350°.
Grease 9/13 glass baking dish.
Combine cake mix, oil, eggs - blend well.
Stir in chocolate chips, white chocolate chips and candy bar bits - mix will be thick.
Press 1/2 of the mixture into 9/13 greased baking dish. Bake 10 minutes.
In saucepan melt butter, caramels, sweetened condensed milk over medium-low heat. Stir until smooth.
Slowly pour caramel mix over partially baked mixture. Top with remaining cake batter - you will have to drop this on top evenly - won't spread.
Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until top is set and has a deep golden brown edge.
Let cool 20 minutes. Run knife along sides to loosen edges. Let cool 40 more minutes.
Chill one hour then cut into bars. Serve.
