Preparation

Step 1

Place the water and milk mixture into a large container add the 5 tsp sugar and stir. Then add the 3 tsp yeast and stir and let rise.
In a large bowl add the 14 cups flour. Pour in the risen yeast and milk mixture. Add the 4 eggs, 1 tsp salt, 1 1/2 pounds margarine, the 2 cups sugar and work into a soft dough. LET RISE.
Empty the rise dough onto a bread board and cut it into 6 equal portions. Shape and round each portion but DO NOT KNEAD ! Let the portions rest on the bread board so that they can rise, again.
Roll out each portion seperately about 1/4 inch thick and sprinkle lightly with fine bread crumbs. Cover the dough with cherries (use unpitted canned or fresh cherries because if you pit them the dough will become soggy). Roll dough and cherries into a log and place two logs side by side on a greased cookie sheet (Pat ends down to close each log roll). Let the logs rise once more in the cookie sheet then brush each log with a little egg and milk mixed to give them a nice color when baked. Then bake them for 20 minutes at 375 F and then turn oven down to 300 and bake them for another 30-40 minutes.
* THIS RECIPE WILL MAKE SIX LOGS.
