Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground chuck
  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 2 Tablespoons Chili Powder
  • 1 Tablespoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 2 Cups of Beef Broth
  • 30 ounces of Chili Beans
  • 15 ounces of Crushed Tomatoes
  • 12 Ounces of your favorite ale or beer
  • garnish
  • 1 cup shredd cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredd monterey jak cheese
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup chopped green onion

Preparation

Step 1

brown the meats in a large saucepan over medium heat
drain off excess fat
add
chili powder, salt, garlic powder, thyme, black pepper, cayenne and saute with meat
add flour to meat mixture and stir well
blend in beef broth
add remaining ingredients, bring chili to a simmer and then let it simmer uncovered for 1 1/2 hours stirring
occasionally
serve in bread bowls along with some of the garnishes
listed above

When serving in bread bowls as a yummy extra
combine 1/4 cup melted butter with 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt and 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley flakes
Brush this over the face of top of the bread you cut off to make the bowls
also brush a little garlic butter on the top edge of the bread bowl
flip the tops and the bowls over onto the buttered surface on a griddle o skillet that has been preheated to medium heat
cook for a minute or two until browned
serve chili in the bread bowl with the grilled top leaning against it
