Oatmeal cookies with chips

Use either chocolate chips or butterscotch, or a mix of both! A favorite cookie my Grandma makes.

Ingredients
- 1 cup butter or margarine
- 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
- 1 1/2 cups white sugar
- 1/2 cup applesauce
- 3 eggs
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- 3 3/4 cups of all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 3 cups of quick oats
- 1 (12oz) package of chocolate or butterscotch chips

Step 1
In a large bowl, combine margarine, brown sugar, white sugar, and applesauce; mix well. Add eggs and vanilla. Beat until smooth. In a small bowl, combine flour, salt, baking powder, baking soda, and cinnamon. Slowly add the flour mixture to the sugar mixture; beat well. Stir in the oats and chips; mix well. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheets or use Teflon cookie sheets. Bake at 350 degrees F for 10 to 12 minutes. Allow to cool about 2 minutes before removing to cooling rack. Store in a covered container. These freeze well.
